Outreach contacts for the month of May were 243.  Way to go Duane.    If you need someone to visit and assist you with a problem, Duane is always available.

We are looking for donations for an upcoming fund raising prize bingo.  If you have anything to offer, your donation would be gratefully appreciated.

Yard of the Week

The Spirit Lake Senior Services office will be holding another yard of the Week Contest, throughout the months of June and July.  If you would like to enter your yard in the contest, please call the office at 766-1211 or 1296 and we can come out and get a picture of your yard.  Judging will be held on Fridays in the lobby of the Tribal BuildingWinners will be announced on KABU radio.  Join the fun and Good Luck to all entrants.

 

Mark Your Calendars

The elders annual pot luck picnic is scheduled for June 18th, at the Fish and Wildlife Park.  Please call the office and let us know if you will be participating in this event.

 

We still have assistive living items available for those of you in need.  Items include depends, bathtub grab bars, raised toilet seats, toilet frames and canes.

 

In Case You Didn’t Know!!

The Senior Services Transportation Program is open to all ages and residents of the Spirit Lake Reservation.  If you are in need of a ride, please call Bobby at 351-5888, or Jake at 351-7282.

 

Glasses

Elders 55 and older needing eye exams and eye glasses are asked to take advantage of the Lenscrafter Program being offered by Mary Cavanaugh at 766-1705.  This service will be offered to the elders and children on June 23rd through the 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  This is a great opportunity for elders and children to get a free eye exam and glasses.  Any questions, call Mary 766-1705.

 

 

  Garden TillIf you have recently had a garden tilled and would like to enter your prize winning garden in our Elders Garden Contest, please call the office when your garden is ready and we'll make a home visit.

 

Elders needing their grass cut are asked to call Curtis Black at 350-0635.  Curtis will also be working with the children from a church group that comes to the Spirit Lake Tribe each summer.  If you are in need of house repairs or have any question regarding this group, please call Curtis.

 

A huge Thanks goes out to “Boy” Jetty for the donation of buffalo jerky and sausage which was used on the Senior Services display booth at Mystic Lake during the Title VI Directors Awards Conference.  Thank you Mr. Jetty.  The donation was well accepted by all Tribes in attendance.  Thanks also go out to the Spirit Lake Casino for their donation of mugs, shirts, pens.  Thank you.

 

Volunteers are always needed and welcome!!  If you want to volunteer, call the office and we’ll contact you.

Fish Dinner

The annual elder’s fish fry is another event held in conjunction with the Fish and Wildlife Program.  The event is scheduled for July and we are always in need of volunteers to assist with the filleting of the walleye.  If you are willing to assist with this task, please call Andrew at 766-1243.
